The Teacher’s Perspective: A Post-Event Thank You & Impact Recap

On August 15, we hosted our annual Teacher’s Back-to-School Event where we were able to serve 79 teachers, and the atmosphere was electric. But to truly understand the impact of that day, we have to look back at the incredible generosity that made it possible. 

We were overwhelmed with support during this back-to-school season. Thank you to our volunteers, donors, and Georgia Young Professionals for standing by our side during this event! 

Thanks to our community showing up in a massive way for our Back-to-School Event, our shelves were completely packed. The final tally of what our supporters provided for educators across three local Title I schools includes: 

• 316 boxes of disinfecting wipes, tissues, and hand sanitizer bottles 

• 1675 lbs of items in total went out

A Weight Lifted

When teachers arrived at the event, they weren't just picking up supplies, they were experiencing a community standing firmly in their corner. Outfitting a classroom out of pocket is a heavy burden that too many local educators carry. 

When we host this event for these teachers, that impacts over 4,000 students and saves teachers upwards of $1,000 they would have spent out of pocket to prepare their classrooms for the school year. 

Hearing from them directly on the day of the event put the true weight of this drive into perspective. As one local teacher shared with us: 

"The supplies will help to engage my students in class. They will support my students in filling in the gap for their parents” - C. Neal 

“Being a Title 1 school, EVERYTHING is needed!!!” A. Parent

"These items will allow me to create a safe, fun, and loving environment for my students. For some this (my class) is their second home, so these items will go a long way?” - K. Joseph-Maloney

The Mission Continues All Year

We hit our goals, we filled the tables, and we celebrated the incredible teachers who invest in the next generation every single day. But while this specific event has wrapped up, the reality of classroom needs continues all year long.
